How to Straighten Preparation: How to StraightenShampoo and condition your hair with the products recommended to you by your hairdresser. Gently towel dry your hair. Spray a mist of a good quality 'thermal hair protector' over your hair, to help protect from heat damage during the blow drying and straightening stage. Apply a hair styling product such as a medium hold 'straightening balm' and comb evenly through your hair with a wide toothed comb or paddle brush (Tip: apply the styling balm from mid-lengths to the ends of your hair and then the roots last. This helps to give you an even distribution without product build-up at the roots). Next, using hair clips, section your hair whilst blow drying. Blow dry your hair using a medium sized round barrel brush, which will help to encourage straightness in your hair. Starting at the bottom and back, twist a section of the hair lightly around the brush near the root and, holding a hair dryer fitted with a nozzle close, slowly pull along to the ends. Continue this sectioning and blow drying pattern around your head finishing at the front. A smooth blow dry is a very important stage in creating any look you want to achieve with your hair straighteners. Straightening: Section your hair from the middle at the back and use hair clips to secure each side out of the way on top of your head, keeping a section at a time down for straightening. With a comb or fingers, take a smaller section of hair about 2inches wide (5cm), and holding firmly at the hairs end, glide your DIOSA hair straightener gently down from the roots. Keep your sections small if possible, as this allows you to get much closer to the root (Tip: if your hair is particularly resilient or perhaps fragile, spray another light mist of 'thermal protector' on each section prior to straightening). Work across each large section, taking 2inch (5cm), smaller sections and methodically move all the way around your head. (Tip: try slightly curling the very ends of your hair for a softer look that is particularly effective if you have layers) When you reach your fringe, take a fine section of hair and again, from root to ends, straighten. But this time direct the hair how you would like your fringe to fall (Tip: for a softer fringe, reduce the temperature of your DIOSA hair straightener to around 150°c).
